(13-WHAM) The heat was on this weekend in Rochester. On Saturday, the official high temperature was 58 degrees, breaking the previous record high of 57 degrees from 1995.
The record high for Sunday is 67 degrees, and that record has now been broken as the added sunshine and SW wind has pushed the temp to 69 degrees.
This record dates back to 1972. Sunday's high tied for the 3rd warmest day in the history of January for Rochester.
It’s interesting to note that in January, Rochester has only had two days reaching 70 degrees in the history of the city. Those dates were January 21st, 1906 when Rochester reached 71 degrees and January 25th, 1950 when Rochester had its all-time January high of 74 degrees.
A cold front is crossing the region on Sunday and temperatures will fall through the overnight. The 13 WHAM Weather Authority expects some rain showers to accompany the front as it crosses the region.
