(AP) _ One man is dead and at least six people are recovering from gunshot wounds after the new year began with bullets flying in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany.

Police say a 19-year-old man was shot outside Social Bar in downtown Buffalo around 3 a.m. Tuesday. Another man was charged with assault.

In Rochester, a woman in a car was struck in the hand when shots were fired on the street. And a 27-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were treated for gunshot wounds after a shooting in northeast Rochester around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

In Syracuse, a 30-year-old man was fatally shot while sitting in a SUV around 11:30 Monday night. Another man was shot in the leg outside a party early Tuesday.

And in Albany, police are investigating the non-fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man early Tuesday.
