The support for the Webster community continues in a number of ways in the wake of Monday's shooting and fire. One of the latest efforts involves hotel rooms.

There is an effort being organized partly through Facebook, to have area companies and individuals donate the cost of hotel rooms this weekend.

That's because thousands are likely to come to both the wakes and funerals for the two slain firefighters.

Chris Smith is an assistant chief with the Webster fire department and he tells WHAM 1180 News it is just an incredible outpouring of support...

"The community, Monroe County, the state, the world, has responded to this, it's been very helpful, the response has been absolutely overwhelming."

Besides the hotel rooms that are being donated, Smith says he is working with the Monroe County fire bureau to determine how many beds may be available at various fire departments for out of town firefighters and police.

The funeral  for Mike Chiapperini on Sunday is expected to have an especially large turnout, since he was both a police officer and a firefighter.
