Rochester Police say one of their officers helped deliver a baby early Saturday morning.
Just after 1:00 a.m., an officer working a traffic detail near East Main and North Goodman Streets saw a car being driven erratically. When the vehicle was pulled over, the driver said he was trying to get to the hospital because his pregnant wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was in the advanced stages of childbirth.
The officer called for an ambulance, but before the ambulance could get there, the officer and the father were able to safely deliver a baby girl.
The family was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
