Humane Society officials are looking for the public's help in investigating a case of animal abandonment in Rochester.
Officers with the Humane Society of Greater Rochester responded to a call on Tuesday about a dog in a crate near train tracks near the intersection of Silver and Madison Streets in the city.
They say the dog was locked in a large crate, which was covered in blood.
The dog, which is an adult female pit bull mix, was taken to the veterinary clinic at Lollypop Farm. Officials say it has injuries consistent with the animal having been in a fight.
Authorities say the dog is being kept comfortable while her injuries are treated. Anyone with information is asked to call the humane society at 223-6500, which is the Humane Society Animal Cruelty Hotline.
