Officials  at the Harley School in Brighton on Monday  broke ground on what's being called a living building, which is dedicated to environmental education and sustainability.

It's called Chesonis Commons, named after the former PAETEC CEO whose foundation donated one million dollars toward the three million dollar project.

The building will also be a teaching tool, and students will actually control the building's energy needs.

The new building will house some new programs including a state of the art science center.

It's expected to be open in September of next year
