Among the Thanksgiving traditions in our area, feeding people who need help. The Open Door Mission in Rochester fed at least 400 people late Thursday afternoon and into the early evening.
Officials there say they have been seeing an increasing number of people come to them for help, due in part to the economy and people without jobs.
The mission actually began its work on Thanksgiving, 60 years ago today.
The mission also offers places for the homeless to stay and other services.
The Executive Director at the Open Door Mission, Mike Hennessy tells WHAM News that s the community has been especially generous this year in getting them the donations they need to put on the Thanksgiving meal as well as help with the other services the Mission provides.
