State Lottery officials on Thursday introduced this area's newest lottery millionaires, two women from the Rochester area. 58 year old Gail Cappella won $16.5 million dollars through a lottery subscription.
She has had that subscription for 16 years, and the numbers that she won with were numbers picked out by her late husband. He just died last year, and she says winning is somewhat bittersweet because of that, but it also makes her feel as if he is still looking out for the family.
Cappella says she will still work, and doesn't have any big immediate plans for the money but would like to start some type of scholarship fund. After the lump sum payout and taxes, she will net about 7.7 million dollars.
The other winner Dorothy West, won a million dollar prize in a new scratch-off game called Prism Payout. She was the first player statewide to win the jackpot on that game, and after withholding, she will get 33-thousand dollars a year for 20 years.
