ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The New York State Canal System will be fully open to navigation Sunday with the re-opening of the Erie Canal from Scotia to Little Falls.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says water levels in the 524-mile system had been lowered to reduce the risk of flooding during Superstorm Sandy. There was no damage to the canal.

The canal system is scheduled to close for the winter on Nov. 15.

The Canal System includes four Canals: the Erie, Champlain, Oswego and Cayuga-Seneca;
