Rochester Gas and Electric says it continues to make progress on restoring power to the thousands of people impacted by the remnants of Sandy earlier this week.

The numbers did spike Wednesday afternoon because of a substation problem in Brighton. As of 6pm on Thursday , there were around 2100 customers without power in Monroe County and about 100 in Wayne County.

Spokesman Dan Hucko tells WHAM News they brought additional crews from outside the area on Thursday, and expect to get nearly everyone back online by midnight on Friday.
