Local emergency officials say they are gearing up for Sandy, formerly a hurricane, still a tropical storm, and still presenting a threat.
Although the track is still somewhat uncertain, it has the potential to bring heavy rain and windy condtions to our area early next week.
Emergency management officials, local power companies and the Red Cross are also making plans in case the storm causes problems. The Red Cross says you should always have an emergency kit ready, with things like a 3-day supply of food and water, flashlights, batteries and a radio.

The local Red Cross has deployed three volunteers to eastern New York to prepare for Hurricane Sandy's landfall. Two of the volunteers are headed for White Plains, downstate, and another is going to Albany.
