A new list of academic performance of 430 Upstate NY school districts ranks Pittsford at #1, while Rochester ranked at the bottom.

The annual list is published by Business First, a Buffalo business newspaper.  The list is compiled by looking at a broad array of test results, ranging from English and math tests for third graders up to Regents exams for High Schoolers.

Pittsford also ranked as the most affluent school district in another list put out by Business First earlier this week, and Rochester the least aflluent, although a projects editor with the newspaper says the wealth of the various districts did not correspond to academic performance in all cases.

While Rochester was ranked last in academic performance, it was joined by other Upstate urban districts including Syracuse, Buffalo, Albany and Utica.

Among other local districts that ranked highly, Brighton was #3, and  Honeoye-Falls Lima was #6.
