Negotiations are resuming Monday between the University of Rochester and unions that represent hundreds of workers there.

The  talks involve the Service Employees International Union, which represents about 1800 workers. The union says the main issue has to do with a change in their health benefits. The original talks began back in August, and some other issues have already been resolved.

The U of R  issued a statement recently saying that it is committed to offering a compensation package that is highly competitive, but it says the proposed changes in the contract would better control costs for health care coverage.

The union held informational picketing on Friday and Saturday, but none is planned for Monday. The U of R  is this area's largest employer.
