(13-WHAM) A family in Hamlin is without a home after it was destroyed in a fire Tuesday night.
Walker Fire Chief Ed Barth says they arrived at the house on Greenwood Parkway around 10:30 to find it engulfed in flames.
Several departments came in to help control the fire.
Firefighters say the neighbors who called about the fire weren't actually the first ones to know.
“The neighbors’ dogs actually alerted the neighbors next door,” said Barth. “And then they called."
The fire chief said several pets were lost in the fire.
The owners of the house were out of town at the time, so no one was hurt.
