The heavy wet snow and wind damaged some of the lilac bushes in Highland Park. Parks officials say that about 10 percent of the plants were damaged.
But with about 1200 plants overall, they say there will still be plenty of flowers when the Lilac Festival takes place in May.
If there's any bright side, they do note that the colder weather will slow down the growth of the lilacs, many of which started to bud early because of the unusually mild weather in early Spring, so it should help keep them closer to peak when they bloom next month.
