I was reading the Buffalo News this morning and came across this stat. There have been 191 quarterbacks drafted into the NFL since Jim Kelly retired and the Bills have taken just three of those.

    Only the Dallas Cowboys, who have taken two, have drafted fewer quarterbacks over that time. 

   J.P. Losman, Trent Edwards and Levi Brown. are the three dubious picks.

  Tonight will the Bills use the 8th overall pick on a franchise qb? 

   You have WVU's Geno Smith, Florida State's E.J. Manuel, USC's Matt Barkley and SU's Ryan Nassib. The draft is alll about value. I believe the only qb worthy of selection at 8th is Smith. I like Manuel, Barkley and Nassib, but not at eight. 

  Two years ago the Bills passed over quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick. Frustrating. This current adminstration thought Ryan Fitzpatrick was the future. Their crediblity on qb's is not the best.

  The Bills have never used their first pick in the NFL Draft on a quarterback. Ideally, I would love for the Bills to trade down if possible, compile more picks and choose a qb late in the first or early in the second round.

  Whether its age, lack of offense or the Knicks defene. the Celtics scored only 23 second half points in Tuesday night's loss to New York. In fact, Boston has scored only 48 second half points in the first two games of the series.

   Caremllo Anthony scored 34 points, Sixth Man of the Year J.R. Smith  added 19, as New York overcame a six point half time deficit.  The Celtics missed 10 of their first 11 shots of the third while getting  outscored 24-4 to open the quarter.

   All the Knicks have done have protected home court while taking a 2-0 lead in a series for the first time since 2000. They are a better and need to go Boston and and not allow the proud Celtics to make this a series.

   Keep in mind Amare Stoudemire still hopes to return from right knee surgery  for the second round if the Knicks advance. 

  Because of his negligence over the last three years, many draft experts suspect the Bills G-M Buddy Nix will draft Syracuse qb Ryan Nassib with the 8th overall pick. Since Nix came to town Levi Brown is the only qb selected.

  Rumors along with conventional thinking speculate Nassib will be re-united with his former head coach Doug Marrone and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in Buffalo.

  Nassib's stock has risen dramatically since December. I like Nassib, but when did he become the top qb in the country. The draft is all about value. I would prefer the Bills to trade down if possible stock pile additional picks, since they have only six selections this year and pluck Nassib if possible early in the second round. The

  Which QB would I like to see selected by the Bills? In order, Geno Smith (WVU). Nassib, Matt Barkley (USC), Tyler Wilson (Arkansas), Landry Jones (Oklahoma), Zac Dysert, (Miami of Ohio), Mike Glennon (NCST) and E.J. Manuel (Florida St.)

  16 year since Jim Kelly retired and the Bills still have not found his replacement.

  An horrific week in Boston came to end on Friday night with the killing and capturing of the two Boston Marathon Bombers.  On Saturday, singer/songwriter Neil Diamond surprised baseball fans at Boston's Fenway Park, taking the field during a Red Sox game to lead the crowd in a sing-along of his classic hit, "Sweet Caroline."

    Diamond and his wife flew to Boston not only to sing to the crowd but wanted  to personally thank and express his gratitude to the first responders and law enforcement officers.

   Diamond lifted the spirits of Boston residents with a surprise performance of "Sweet Caroline," the team's unofficial anthem.

    It was a bright moment for the city that was in lock down mode on Friday.  Saturday marked the first game at Fenway Park since the bombings. An emotional scene.

    The Buffalo Bills received some bit of good news on Sunday when the NY Jets  traded Darrelle Revis to Tampa Bay.

     In return for the three-time All-Pro, the Jets receive the No. 13 overall pick in Thursday's draft and a conditional 2014 fourth-rounder that bumps to a third-rounder if Revis is on the Bucs' roster on the third day of the 2014 league year. The Jets hold the 9th and 13th overall selections.

    
  Carmello Anthony finished with 36 points, leading the Knicks to an 85-78 victory Saturday in game one vs the Celtics.  Anthony has the most pressure of any player in the playoffs. He needs to win.  New York has not won a postseason series since 2000

   Anthony shot only 13 for 29 from the field but made consecutive buckets down the stretch in the final quarter, when the Knicks held Boston to three baskets and eight points. For Anthony to take his place among some of the all time great Knick players, he needs to save his best at the end of games while getting the team to the NBA Finals.

  Sports at its finest was on display Wednesday night in Boston.  Sports action resumed in Boston for the first time since Monday's marathon bombings with the Bruins hosting the Sabres.

   Emerging from a moment of silence with a deafening cheers, the sold out crowd at TD Garden paid tribute to the victims of the bombing with a stirring national anthem and a thunderous chant of "U.S.A.!"

  Both teams wore "Boston Strong" decals on their jerseys, while Bruins players donated 80 tickets to first responders. The Bruins also announced a $250,000 donation partnership that includes the NHL and the Players Association.

  The outcome of sports events don’t seem very important this week but last night the Bruins and Sabres maybe helped the people of Boston heal and find some reason to smile again.

   Buffalo capped an emotional night with the emotional win, as the Sabres moved to within two points of the 8th and final playoff spot.  They only have four games left. The Rangers have six but host Florida tonight, while Winnipeg entertains Carolina. The Sabres host the Rangers on Friday night.
