The NY Rangers dismissed head coach John Tortarella on Wednesday after four-plus seasons and four consecutive playoff appearances.
G-M Glen Sather was forced to fire Tortarella following a player mutiny. His brash, bully style had worn out its welcome in the lockerrooom.
The old school guys love Torts because he holds players accountable. He was committed to what he was doing. I l believe the Rangers were better off now than before Tortarella arrived in New York.
The question now is who will succeed Tortarella in New York? One name that is being rumored is former Sabres boss Lindy Ruff, who was fired by Buffalo in February. Ruff could handle the New York media since he played with the Rangers from 1988-1991.
Ruff spoke with the Dalas Stars a few days ago about their head coaching job. Ruff will be behind someone's bench next season. Could or would you root for Ruff to win a Stanley Cup title in either New York or Dallas?
