The signing of Kevin Kolb indicates the Bills will not draft a qb with eighth overall pick in the NFL Draft. However, the Bills are expected and should select a qb in the second round.
Kolb's deal is smart and manageable for the Bills in regards to money. Kolb will receive a $1 million signing bonus, along with a workout bonus of $100,000 in 2013 and a base salary this year of $1.65 million. A $250,000 roster bonus is tied to Kolb having a roster spot for the first game of the 2013 regular season. Next year, Kolb’s base salary increases to $2 million.
The addition of Kolb gives the Bills a band-aid for at least a year, in fact the contract indicates Kolb as a back-up rather than a starter. The deal is loaded with incentives.
