Let the madness begin!. The field for the NCAA's 68-team men's basketball tournament was announced on Sunday.
Jim Boeheim and his Syracuse Orange enter the tourney losing 78-61 loss to Louisville in the Big East Conference championship game on Saturday.
SU was impressive in beating Seton Hall, Pittsburgh and Georgetown and for the first half of the Louisville game. The Orange had lost four of its last five games to end the regular season.
Syracuse (26-9), earning the 4th seed in the East Region, will matchup against Big Sky champion Montana (25-6) on Thursday in San Jose, Calif. Game time is 10:00 pm.
The Orange heading west while part of a bracket with three Western schools. The SU-Montana winner will face either No. 5 seed UNLV or No. 12 seed California in the next round on Saturday.
Montana has won 21 of its last 23 games. The Grizzlies’ last loss was an overtime defeat at Davidson on Feb. 23.
Montana did lose its leading scorer, Mathias Ward, to season-ending foot surgery earlier this month.
Montana ranks as one of the best-shooting teams in the country. The Grizzlies rank fifth in the nation in free-throw percentage, 13th in 3-point shooting (38.5 percent) and 23rd in field-goal percentage (47.4 percent). The Grizzlies were eliminated by Wisconsin a year in the second round.
As for the Syracuse, they have five players who earned NCAA Tournament minutes last season's elight eight run.
