Would you let your child football? When you think about the risks that go along with the sport, like possible concussions, long-term injuries, the answer isn't so easy.
Speaking with the New Rebublic President Barack Obama said: “I’m a big football fan, but I have to tell you, if I had a son, I’d have to think long and hard before I let him play football,” I respect what the President had to say.
The NFL is being sued by anyone who ever came close to walking on an NFL field, claiming that the NFL is responsible for their lifelong head injuries.
If I had a son and he wanted to play football I would not deter him from playing, no more than I would deter him riding his bike or getting his drivers license.
I believe the difference is not in the danger but in the awarneness. I understand the risk of concussions also exist in hockey, soccer, lacrosse and even cheerleading.
It is cetainly rational to say you don’t want your kid to play football because it’s too dangerous, but there are precautions that are being taken.
