The Baltimore Ravens survived a 35-minute power outage at the Superdome and held off the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 to win Super Bowl 47. Joe Flacco tossed three first-half 
NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco was named Most Valuable Player of the Super Bowl. Flacco tossed three touchdowns to cap a postseason in which he threw 11 touchdown passes and no interceptions.

The Baltimore Ravens survived a 35-minute power outage at the Superdome and held off the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 to win Super Bowl 47. Joe Flacco tossed three first-half touchdowns and Jacoby (jah-KOH'-bee) Jones returned the second half kickoff a Super Bowl-record 108 yards for a touchdown.
 	   

JoeE Flacco tossed three touchdown passes in the first half as the Ravens opened a 21-6 halftime edge. Jacoby (jah-KOH'-bee) Jones opened the second half with an electrifying 108-yard touchdown record, the longest kickoff return in Super Bowl history.
 
 Then a power outage delayed play for 35 minutes, which seemed to breathe life into the Niners. Trailing 28-6 when the power went out, San Francisco came to life with 17 points over a 4:14 stretch of the third quarter to make it 28-23.

After Baltimore took a 31-23 lead, the Niners scored a touchdown to cut it to 31-29. San Francisco's two-point conversion failed. Baltimore added a late field goal ..THE RAVENS THEN USED A GOAL LINE STAND AT THE END......TO WIN THEIR SECOND LOMBARDI TITLE IN FRANCHISE HISTORY

FLACCO completed 22 of 33 passes for 287 yards AND NAMED MVP

 Auxiliary power kept the playing field from going totally dark, but escalators stopped working and the concourses were only illuminated by small banks of lights tied in to emergency service.... A spokesman for the New Orleans power company said the outage appeared to originate in a failure of equipment maintained by stadium staff

NHL:
Defenseman Brian Campbell scored on the power play with 10:33 remaining to cap Florida's three-goal rally and the Panthers beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-3. ..Florida rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win two straight since enduring a five-game skid.

Thomas Vanek and Cody Hodgson had a goal and assist each, and Alexander Sulzer also scored for Buffalo, which dropped to 1-5-1 since opening the season with two wins.


Johan Hedberg made 22 saves for his 22nd career shutout, and Steve Bernier scored two of New Jersey's three third-period goals in the Devils' 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday.
