LEBRON JAMES: Sportsman of the Year

Sports Illustrated has revealed its Sportsman of the Year, and there's little surprise here -- it's LeBron James. LeBron's year is basically without historical parallel. He won his first NBA championship, he was the league MVP, he was the NBA Finals MVP and he brought home an Olympic gold from London.

Landlord Reduces Rent for December

In Los Angeles, a landlord proved that he was no Scrooge. The landlord taped a note to every tenant's door in the apartment complex. After some nice words about the holidays, it said: "Please deduct $70 from your regular rent for the month of December and perhaps use those monies to purchase a gift for someone special in your life."

Washington ended a 10-game home losing streak in Monday night games

Robert Griffin III threw for one touchdown and had a fumble turn into another score, and the Washington Redskins pulled within one game of the NFC East lead with a 17-16 win over the New York Giants on Monday night... Griffin completed 13 of 21 passes for 163 yards and ran five times for 72 yards...Pierre Garcon  had eight receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown

The Redskins improved to 6-6 with their third straight victory, tied with the Dallas Cowboys and on the heels of the Giants, who have lost three of four to fall to 7-5.

 Center Eric Wood (left knee) will miss between two and four weeks....Wood said tests showed he tore his MCL, an injury that will not require surgery.
 
 Right tackle Chris Hairston (right ankle) is not expected to play Sunday, when the Bills (5-7) host St. Louis (5-6-1).

 The Buffalo Bills have released veteran linebacker Kirk Morrison...Morrison had been inactive for all 12 games this season. The Bills re-signed the eighth-year player to a two-year, $4 million contract in March to provide them a veteran backup behind Nick Barnett.

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh says that Colin Kaepernick (KAP'-ur-nik) will remain the team's starting quarterback for Sunday's game against Miami despite an overtime loss to the Rams

The average price for a ticket for Buffalo's ``home'' game against the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 16 in Toronto will be $99. That's down from about $160 in 2008, when the series began.
The game against the Seahawks is the finale of the five-year deal reached between the Bills and Rogers, the Toronto-based communications company giant.
