NO GOBBLING FOR PETA KIDS

Trying to get kids to think of Thanksgiving as something other than “Turkey Day,” PETA put up billboards in Nevada and California comparing turkeys to the family dog and asking: "KIDS: If you wouldn't eat your dog, why eat a turkey? Go vegan" with a picture of a dog head on a turkey body.This has angered a lot of people, especially since PETA is also offering tombstones kids can stick in the turkey that say, “Here lies the corpse of a tortured bird.”

We’re just waiting to see if PETA does the same thing for the Christmas goose …

City of Austin files counter-petition to secede from Texas

The petition for Texas to go off and become its own country already has more than 60,000 signatures. Impressive. But in a twist, the capital city of Austin has filed a petition to secede from Texas and remain part of the Union should that happen. This is officially getting out of hand.
The petition states it is "entirely feasible for Austin to operate as its own state," and adds that remaining in the Union "would protect [its] citizens' standard of living." The drafters might want to go in and correct a few typos to be really taken seriously, but as of this writing, the petition has received more than 5,000 votes out of 25,000 needed for a White House response.

5-Hour Energy shots mentioned in FDA reports of death, abortion

If you've ever slammed down a few caffeine shots, come over a little sweaty and thought maybe they weren't so hot for your health, know that your instincts at least are in tip-top condition. According to FDA records, 5-Hour Energy shots have been linked with 13 deaths over the past four years, as well heart attacks, seizures and a spontaneous abortion.

Around 90 incident reports filed with the FDA mention the shots, and while this does not mean the product is in any way accountable for any deaths or illnesses, we'll be sticking with harmless tequila for now — just in case.

Buffalo Bills defensive end Chris Kelsay will miss his second straight game with a neck injury after being ruled out by the team from playing against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night.

Also ruled out by the Bills were running back Fred Jackson (concussion), defensive end Mark Anderson (left knee), cornerback Aaron Williams (right knee).. The Bills (3-6) have lost five of six. The Dolphins (4-5) travel to Orchard Park having lost two straight.

According to the "New York Daily News," more than a dozen unnamed players say Tebow has shown no improvement since joining the Jets, with one defensive starter saying, quote, "He's terrible." Ryan says Tebow wasn't brought in to be the starting quarterback, but brings a unique skill set and works as hard as anybody on the team. Ryan has stuck by starting quarterback Mark Sanchez all season, despite his struggles. The 3-and-6 Jets have lost three in-a-row. They play at St. Louis this Sunday.

Tampa Bay's David Price is the winner of the American League Cy Young Award edging Detroit's Justin Verlander by four points for the honor...Price won 20 games and posted a season-low 2.56 ERA.

The National League Cy Young Award winner is R.A. Dickey of the New York Mets.  He got 27 of the 32 of the first place votes to become the first knuckleballer to win the Cy Young Award.  Dickey went 20-6 with a 2.73 ERA and 230 strikeouts.
