Women with cats are more prone to attempt suicide because of a parasite found in cat poop, which, according to a study, can trigger undetected brain changes.

The recently published study, involving more than 45,000 women in Denmark, shows that the culprit is toxoplasma gondii, which is spread through undercooked meat, unwashed veggies — and cat feces.

Researchers found that women infected with T. gondii experienced rising levels of antibodies in their blood, and were one and a half times more likely to attempt suicide than uninfected women.
