It seems like every year we revisit the idea of 'organizing', sometimes we even implement a tactic or two, sometimes just thinking about it is enough to do us in. It's a fact that being organized makes life run a bit smoother and who doesn't want that? The problem isn't that we don't want to be organized; the problem is getting from here to there. We've all taken that very important first step...you open a desk drawer...every fiber of your being is intent on conquering, this time you're going to do it, nothing can stop you...and then the first thing you see is a receipt from 1964 and you slam the door shut. Organization is overrated.
There are a million different ideas, a million different suggestions, a million different products. But there are only three real choices.
We'll assume you're sticking with choice number 1, if not...feel free to skip ahead to the next article which should be 'how to live in an unorganized home' (but probably won't be).
You're thinking you should have just skipped ahead to the next article? But you didn't. Because you really really want to be organized. Just do it. Seriously, if you try to do it all at once or look at the whole picture it's just too overwhelming. Take one small step at a time and you'll get there, you will. One small step at a time. Eventually you'll take a look around and realize everything is organized! Don't stress yourself out. Don't try to do it all at once. Give yourself a break. Don't set goals you may or may not meet. Just take one small spot and finish it. Then the next. Then the next. No matter how far you get, whether you finish the entire house or just one kitchen cabinet the important thing to remember is that you did it. You made progress!
Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc., a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life challenges. Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc. was founded over 30 years ago by Gary Mervis to provide a residential camping program for his daughter, Teddi Mervis, and 62 other children with cancer from Upstate New York. It has grown to become one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world.
All of the programs and services at Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc. are offered free of charge for the participants. Recently United Way removed funding to Camp Good Days. We all know the importance of Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc. for those affected with cancer.
|United Way is shifting it's focus and parting ways with some programs banking on it's funding. More than 40 programs that help people all across our area are being impacted. The United Way says it has to do the most it can with what it has. While many programs depend on your donations, News10NBC is focusing on Camp Good Days which is facing an $80,000 dollar cut. Camp Good Days is no longer getting money from the United Way's general community fund, that's money that is not donated to a particular organization. You can still make a specific donation to Camp Good Days.|
If you are not already donating to Camp Good Days and Special Times Inc. would you consider making a commitment now? Would you help be a part of making a very special time for childen and their families who are battling cancer and other life challenges? Would you consider making this very important and special cause a part of your New Year Resolution?

January can be a long difficult month for many people. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is behind us leaving both a sense of relief and an empty feeling. The weather doesn't always play nice. The kids are getting cabin fever, let's face it...everyone is getting cabin fever. So what to do?
There are lots of different ways to go about planning a scavenger hunt depending on how extensive you want to make it. Keeping it small for a quick indoor diversion for a restless youngster? Gather a few items ahead of time and make a list to give your child to check off as they spot/find the items...something like this...
| Red Button
If you really want to have some fun have a WHOLE FAMILY Scavenger Hunt! Make a list ahead of time and head out in the car for a drive. Give each person (except the driver!) a copy of the list and a pen or pencil and start searching out that window!
Split Rail Fence
These are just ideas of course, you can make your list as long and as easy or difficult as you want. You could even give each passenger in the car their own list of different objects to spot. If the kids have camera's let them take them along and get pictures of the items on their list, they could make a scrapbook at home later (when it comes to projects this is the two for one deal!). Be creative. Have fun with it. Take the long and difficult out of January! Have some fun!
As you undoubtedly know, Jim got his new truck from Genesee Valley Motors. He loves it. And he loves Genesee Valley Motors. If a new vehicle is in your future in 2014 Jim highly recommends you take a drive to 1695 Interstate Drive in Avon and let them show you how a vehicle buying experience should be. At Genesee Valley Motors you don't have to worry about the usual games and tricks that other dealers consider standard sales practices. Your biggest worry is ... which vehicle to pick!!
When is the best time to begin a home improvement project? Before it becomes a necessity! Most people have an ongoing list of home improvements they would like to get started on.
