Rochester City Council Postpones Downtown Ambassadors Vote

The Rochester City Council has postponed a vote on City Hall's proposed neighborhood ambassadors program.

Council members want more details about the plan.

Ambassadors in the North Clinton and Jefferson Avenue areas would be funded with opioid settlement money and steer people to social services.

But ambassadors downtown would be funded with local tax dollars and steer visitors to attractions.

Critics oppose that part of the program, saying it's part of a bigger plan for a downtown Business Improvement District that will drive up rents and benefit developers.
