Rochester Officials Finalizing The City's Police Department Reorganization

Rochester officials are finalizing a reorganization of the city's police department that was first reported weeks ago by Bob Lonsberry.

Officials say each of the department's quadrants will be closely aligned with Neighborhood Service Centers to enhance community policing.

And those quadrants will overlap the former Central Section, which is being eliminated.

Officials say the new plan will allow for more officers downtown, and add two more sections, which will operate out of the current Central Section offices.

More details will be announced next month.

The police union says the changes won't do much to cut down on staffing shortages, or the overall level of violence in the city.
