Governor Hochul Says Most Asylum-Seekers Should Remain in New York City

Governor Kathy Hochul says most asylum-seeking illegal immigrants should remain in New York City but some will continue to be sent to "welcoming communities" including Rochester and Buffalo.

The governor told New York One this afternoon that she's in constant contact with officials in Rochester, Buffalo, Albany and other communities where immigrants have been sent, but there's just more opportunity for the migrants in New York City.

The governor says there are more chances for the migrants to find housing, work, English language programs and public transportation in New York City.

She says she's continuing to work with the White House and the City administration on new housing locations for the migrants.
