Rochester Man Gets 30 Years in N. Clinton Ave. Beating Death

A Rochester man was sentenced today to 30 years in prison for beating and killing a man a year ago on North Clinton Avenue.

21-year-old Treveon Gates pleaded guilty in May to first-degree manslaughter and a drug charge.

Police say Gates beat 65-year-old Gerald Irvin in an unprovoked attack in April of last year.

Irvin was hospitalized for over a month before finally succumbing to his injuries.

U.S. Marshals say Gates had over a hundred baggies of fentanyl when he was arrested last October.
