State Wants to Expand the Pool of New York State Police Applicants

The state is looking to expand the pool of State Police applicants.

Governor Hochul announced the state is raising the maximum age to apply for a State Trooper position from 29 to 34.

And that maximum can go up by as much as 7 years with matching military service.

Earlier this year, the Governor announced more than $66 million in the budget to fund additional Trooper academy classes.

And the State Police have ramped up recruiting efforts to try to reach women and minorities.
