Rochester Unemployment Up Slightly from Record Low

The local unemployment rate has risen slightly from its 3-decade low.

The state Labor Department reports the jobless rate for the Rochester metro is up to 2.9% for May.

That's up 4-tenths of a point from the record-low 2.5% for April.

However, May is just the 3rd month since at least 1990 with unemployment below 3%.

The current rate is also a full point below the statewide rate of 3.9%.

The metro has gained 2,400 jobs year-over year.
