The suspension of the state's gas tax takes effect today, lowering the price by 16 cents per gallon.
And Monroe County is collecting the gas sales tax on just the first two dollars of each gallon.
That means filling up in Monroe County should cost at least 24 cents less per gallon, starting today.
The average local price yesterday was $4.89.
