JCOPE: Cuomo Must Return Book Proceeds

Activists Demonstrate Against Gov. Cuomo And His Proposed Budget Cuts

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MARCH 01: A person places his red painted hands on a poster of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's book as people gather outside of his NYC office to protest against cuts to health care on March 01, 2021 in New York City. On the one-year anniversary of the first coronavirus (COVID-19) diagnosis in NYC, grassroots organizations gathered as part of the “Invest In Our NY campaign!” demanding Gov. Cuomo and NYS lawmakers stop the cuts from HIV/AIDS and other healthcare service and pass bills that would raise revenue and help to restore money to Medicaid, cancel rent for low-income New Yorkers and protect vulnerable communities. New York State’s ethics committee says former Governor Andrew Cuomo needs to return the $5.1 million he made from his book deal within 30 days.

JCOPE revoked its approval last month for “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the Covid-19 Pandemic.”

An attorney for Cuomo says he'll sue if the panel tries to enforce the returning of the money.
