Governor Hochul has signed a new law that allows Monroe County to give a tax break to volunteer firefighters and emergency workers.
Volunteers who have served an organization for at least two years can get a ten percent exemption on their property taxes.
The exemption takes effect the first of the year and will be taken off the assessed property value.
