Three Teens Arrested for Carjacking

Rochester police recovered two stolen cars yesterday and arrested the three teenagers who stole them. All are being held in secure detention.

Police say the teens first stole a car from a residence in Brighton, then confronted a 71-year-old Vietnam veteran who was washing his car on Lake Avenue and stole his car at gunpoint.

Police spotted both vehicles in the area of Bay Street, recovering both vehicles and arresting the suspects after a brief foot chase. The suspects were 14, 15 and 16 years old.

The 16-year-old was charged with Robbery and grand larceny, as was the 15-year-old. Both of them were charged for the armed carjacking on Lake Avenue. The 14-year-old is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and grand larceny by Brighton police for stealing the car in Brighton.

The stolen cars have been returned to their owners.
