State Attorney General Letitia James and her counterparts in other states are demanding stricter child car seat safety standards.
James sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
She is calling for federal guidance that says every child remains in a car seat until the child exceeds the height or weight maximum.
She is also calling for federal side-impact testing standards.
