Near-Drowning in Seneca Lake on July 4th

A 29-year-old man narrowly escaped drowning in Seneca Lake yesterday when he jumped off a boat to take a swim and failed to resurface.

Yates County deputies say they were called about 4:00 p.m. to the near-drowning incident near the Village of Dresden. Friends had pulled the man out of the water after he jumped off a boat to take a swim and failed to resurface. They got him to shore, where first responders began treating him and he was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

There's no word on his condition.
