Mayor Lovely Warren's Office Responds to Civil Rights Lawsuit

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren's office is commenting on the class action lawsuit claiming civil rights violations by the city police department and its officers during citizen protests last year.

Warren's office says in a statement she welcomes a review of the police department by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The statement adds that Warren formally called for a federal review after the protests in September and called for the investigators to offer reforms that could address any civil rights violations that might be found.

And the statement says Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan has put in place a new protest response plan.
