Batavia Funeral Home Owner Faces New Charges

A Batavia funeral home owner who was previously charged in an alleged fraud scheme is now charged with keeping a body at his funeral home for more than eight months.

The new charges against Michael Tomaszewski include a public health law violation and offering a false instrument for filing.

Sheriff's deputies say Tomaszewski filed a death certificate for the person that falsely stated the remains had been buried.

The prior charges allege he used money for 91 pre-paid funerals for other purposes.
