State Urges People to Use COVID-19 Cellphone App

The Governors of New York and New Jersey are promoting a cellphone app that can alert users if they're near a person who's been exposed to COVID-19. Governor Andrew Cuomo says the contact tracing app works by using your cellphone data.

Cuomo says a person who tests positive is contacted by the Health Department, which gives that person a cellphone password which enables the app. Any other phone on the app coming within six feet of THAT phone is then alerted.

Use is voluntary, and you have to download the app from either the iPhone or Android app stores.
