Measles Case Confirmed in Monroe County

A case of measles has been confirmed in Monroe County...according to authorities, in a person who recently traveled through the county.

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says the individual arrived in Rochester on Tuesday, September 17th and left on Friday the 20th, both times through the Rochester airport. hey visited two businesses in Webster and stayed at the Hampton Inn on Hard Road in Webster. Officials at the places the person went and the places they ate during their stay in Rochester have been notified.

The person left on American Airlines flight 4722 Friday evening, and began to feel sick a day later.

Dinolfo says 95 percent of Monroe County's school-age population is vaccinated, and the vast majority of county residents are either vaccinated or have immunity from childhood exposure to the disease.
