Monroe County Officially Files Suit Against New York Over Green Light Law

Monroe County is suing the State of New York over the so-called Green Light law -- which allows illegal immigrants to get driver’s licenses.

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says she directed the County Law Department to officially file the suit yesterday, and argues the law violates the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

She calls the new law flawed and says she is filing this lawsuit to protect the "fundamental fairness in licensing."

The Monroe County Legislature voted last month to allow the County to sue the state over the new driver's license law.
