Teen Journalist Accused of Stealing Unmarked City Police Car

The 17-year-old who was arrested yesterday after a joyride in a stolen city-vehicle is Geoffery Rogers -- the teen journalist who was a guest on Bob Lonsberry's show this month.

The car was an unmarked city police car. A 13-year-old also was arrested. Rogers is also accused of brandishing a BB gun at a gas station.

Rodgers is charged with felony grand larceny, menacing, and several citations. Both he and the younger suspect are charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Rodgers pleaded not guilty.

Lonsberry reports Rogers had texted the police chief on Sunday with a request to use police cars and officers in a video promoting his online show.

Rogers was heading into his senior year of high school and had told Bob he was aspiring to be either a journalist or a cop.
