Voters in the area have settled dozens of county and municipal primary election races. In Monroe County, Republican incumbent Cheryl Dinolfo won the Independence Party primary for county executive, defeating Democrat Adam Bello. Dinolfo will have three ballot lines in the fall election, and Bello will have two.In her fourth try at elective office, Rachel Barnhart won the Democratic primary in the 21st county legislative district. In the Republican Primary for Orleans County Sheriff, Christopher Bourke narrowly defeated Brett Sobieraski.
In the City of Rochester, Leticia Astacio's attempt at a political comeback has come up short. Astacio finished third in a three-way Democratic primary in the Northwest City Council District. Jose Peo finished 27 votes ahead of runner-up Lashana Boose. Mary Lupien won the race in the east district.
Outgoing school board president Van White lost a primary for City Court Judge. Michelle Barrett and Nicole Morris were the winners.
