Mayor Warren Calling For Non-Binding Referendum on State Takeover of RCSD

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is taking her case for a state takeover of the city schools to the voters.

She is calling for a non-binding referendum on the issue in November, in hopes a big "yes" vote will encourage state lawmakers to authorize a takeover.

The proposed state takeover would be temporary, but for not less than five years.

The referendum proposal requires approval from the City Council, and Council President Loretta Scott supports it.
