April Heroin Task Force Numbers Released

The Monroe County Sheriff’s office Heroin Task Force has released the opioid overdose numbers for April. Last month, 36 overdoses were reported -- with four of them being fatal. By comparison, there were 94 overdoses with 12 fatalities during the same month last year. There were 24 overdoses reported in the city, six in Greece two in Irondequoit and two in Webster -- and one each in Brockport and Perinton.

In response to the deadly opioid epidemic that is plaguing communities across the nation, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office has partnered with Monroe County, the Monroe County District Attorney's Office, the Monroe County Public Safety Office, Rochester Police Department, Ogden Police Department and Gates Police Department in establishing an Incident Command Post that is staffed with members of several law enforcement agencies capable of bringing resources to bear within the critical first 24 - 36 hours of an opioid related incident.
