A federal grand jury has indicted former State Assemblyman Joseph Errigo and lobbyist Robert Scott Gaddy on charges of conspiracy, bribery, and wire fraud.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the six count indictment returned by the grand jury covers allegations of fraud and corruption involving a large re-development project in the City of Rochester.
Both men have been charged with receiving a bribe concerning programs receiving federal funds, and Gaddy is also charged with paying a bribe. During their investigation, federal agents arranged for a contact to approach Gaddy with an offer to bribe a different assemblyman -- called "Assemblyman A." Gaddy allegedly helped plan the bribery scheme involving former Assemblyman Errigo and "Assemblyman A."
A year ago, that contact delivered cash to Gaddy and Errigo at Errigo's Pittsford office. Errigo introduced the quid pro quo legislation last March, after which they received additional payments.
Gaddy was arraigned in federal court this afternoon, and Errigo will be arraigned on Wednesday.
