Rochester City Council Approves RCSD's Proposed Budget

The Rochester City Council has approved the City School District's proposed budget for the new school year -- despite worries about the district's financial health.

A school board member warned the Council in a letter that the district is on a path to bankruptcy. The new budget adds staff, and the district is counting on savings and state aid to balance the budget.

The Council approved the budget in a 6-3 vote. Meantime, the Council unanimously approved the Mayor's new city budget. Typical homeowners will see taxes and fees increase by about $43 in the coming year.
