SUNY Trustees Extend Tuition Break for Students Displaced by Hurricanes

College students from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands who were displaced by last year's hurricanes will continue to get in-state tuition at the SUNY campuses.

The SUNY Trustees have voted to extend the tuition break for another year. Last fall, roughly 35 students applied to SUNY under the policy, with 50 more doing so this spring.

SUNY Chancellor Kristina Johnson says 100 students and faculty are headed to Puerto Rico in the next few days, to aid recovery efforts.
