Monroe Co. Officials Conducting Formal Review of Diversion Program at CPS

Monroe County Child Protective Services officials say they had no record of any violence by a Sweden woman against her children before she was charged last week in the murder of her 7-year-old son. Officials, however, are prohibited by privacy laws from saying if Child Protective Services had prior contact her.

Without saying there's a connection, County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has named a panel to review a diversion program at CPS called FAR. It's for cases that don't involve risks of violence to children.

The review of FAR will be conducted by the county's Human Services commissioner, Corinda Crossdale; Deputy County Executive Tom Van Strydonck; and the head of the Bivona Child Advocacy Center,  Mary Whittier.

Their report is due in 45 days.
